How do I apply to the Nagoya University Scholarships?

Nagoya University accepts students of undergraduate, master’s, and postgraduate levels.

For undergraduates, the first step to take when applying is to confirm one’s eligibility by simply reading the university’s admission criteria. If unsure about the requirements, interested applicants can send a message to the Admissions Office. Moving on, the second step is to apply online via the online admissions system. Applicants will be asked to input information about themselves and their academic background.

Nagoya University Scholarships for International Students

1. Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho) Scholarship

The Japanese government provides scholarships for students of all nationalities. In order to be a Japanese Government Scholarship recipient, one will have to go through the process of an Embassy Recommendation.

For this scholarship available at the Nagoya University, interested undergraduate students are to apply for the scholarship at Japanese Embassies and Consulate Generals. Once the applicant is accepted, he or she is to take Japanese language lessons for at least a year. JASSO or the Japan Student Services Organization is known for providing scholarship grants to independently-financed students at Japanese universities. In line with this, applicants for this program must be exceptional in terms of academics and impress the selection committee with their previous school achievements.

To apply for this scholarship available for Nagoya University, the student’s GPA or grade point average of the previous school year is to be submitted. Other parts of the application process are to be coordinated with the student’s chosen university. Lastly, this scholarship grant’s duration is for only one year.

3. Scholarships from Local Public and Private Organizations

Students who are not scholarship grantees of the Japanese government are eligible to apply for scholarship programs initiated by public or private organizations in the country.
