As a currently booming country in terms of economics, it cannot be denied that the education scene in Vietnam is also advancing in the present time. Here, we will be looking at the cheap universities in Vietnam for international students.

The Ministry of Education and Training runs Vietnam’s educational system. Moreover, the curriculum utilized across the country is often remarked as meticulous which is easy to see why there are so many gifted students in Vietnam. When it comes to higher education institutions, fresh graduates of high school have several options.

University is the first and the most common path taken by students. However, some choose to pursue their higher education at Senior colleges or Institutes. Furthermore, there are also Junior colleges, community colleges, professional secondary schools, and vocational schools wherein students can obtain certificates or diplomas after completing short courses.

In Vietnam, students also have the choice to take up either an Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree. As for the latter, a student can take four to six years before becoming a degree holder. Afterward, they can take up a Master’s degree which lasts two years, followed by a Ph.D. which can usually be finished within four years.

Cheap Universities in Vietnam

1. Hue University

Considered as an important regional university in Vietnam, Hue University is a public center of learning focused on research. Besides this, it was founded in 1957.

This affordable university in Vietnam has recently stabilized tuition fee levels for all majors at their institution. In line with this, majors in the fields of social sciences and humanities have an affordable tuition fee of 9,800,000 VND. As for technology and arts majors, the tuition is at 11,700,000 VND. Health majors, however, will pay the tuition fee of 14,300,000 VND. These are all for the whole duration of the 10-month academic year.

The university’s joint training programs, such as the Dual Finance (Banking bachelor’s program) and the Business Administration (advanced program), are at a slightly higher rate of 15,000,000 VND per semester.

2. Ho Chi Minh University of Economics and Finance

A private university located in the city which was once called Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance is a young university, having been recently established in 2007.

At Ho Chi Minh University of Economics and Finance, tuition fees for all of their programs are generally around 3,500,000 VND per month. With that, if a typical academic year has a duration of ten months, students have to pay a total of 35,000,000 VND.

Lastly, students who meet specific criteria and requirements may be eligible for 80% or 100% tuition fee discounts.

3. Vietnam – Japan University

Vietnam-Japan University, commonly known as VJU, is a fairly new university that began welcoming students in 2016. It is a member university of the well-known Vietnam National University Hanoi.

The center of learning is open to students of all nationalities, and there is no special entrance examination meant for applicants from overseas. However, it should be noted that the tuition mentioned above fee amount is only applicable to their two-year summer program for international students.

4. Ton Duc Thang University

An affordable public research university in Vietnam that opened its doors to students in 1997, Ton Duc Thang is now considered a major higher education institution in this country.

Moving on to the tuition fee, the undergraduate programs taught in English have a tuition fee of 60,000,000 VND per academic year. These programs are Marketing, Hospitality Management, Biotechnology, Automation & Control Engineering, Civil Engineering, International Accounting, Computer Science, English, and Software Engineering.

As for the tuition fees for Master’s programs, it depends on whether it is taught in Vietnam or English. Programs that utilize Vietnamese as the medium of instruction cost $2,000 if it is a Business and Social major. Science and Technology majors, on the other hand, cost $2,200. Furthermore, the tuition fee for all majors taught in English is $5,000.

Lastly, PhD programs cost $7,000.

5. Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology

Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology is one of Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City’s key member universities. This cheap university in Vietnam is also popular across the country for its excellence in technology and research.

The tuition fee of 66,000,000 VND per academic year applies to the 4-year study programs of Automotive Engineering, Bridge & Highway Engineering, Business Administration, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Food Technology, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Natural Resources & Environmental Management, and Petroleum Engineering.

6. University of Science and Technology of Hanoi

University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) is also referred to as Vietnam – France University. Established under the Intergovernmental Agreement between Vietnam and France, the university symbolizes that the two countries are working hand in hand to provide high-quality education to students and create groundbreaking research for society’s development.

There are differences in the tuition fees of domestic and international students at this affordable university in Vietnam. Moreover, the Aeronautical Engineering program costs 140,500,00 VND, while the other programs only cost 69,900,000 VND. For undergraduates, the tuition fee is collected per semester. Unlike this, the tuition fee for Master’s students is only collected per academic year.

7. Vietnamese-German University

The Vietnamese-German University is the first state university in Vietnam with an international partner. It has two campuses, one is located in the small province of Binh Duong, and the other is situated in the bustling city of Ho Chi Minh.

Similar to the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi, the tuition fees for international students at this center of learning are different from those of domestic students.

In addition to this, the majority of the Bachelor’s study programs cost 56,850,000 VND. Only the Business Administration and Finance & Accounting programs have a tuition fee of 60,750,000 VND.

For Master’s study programs, most are at 45,900,000 VND except for the Business Information System, which has a tuition fee of 60,000,000 VND, and the Master in Business Administration – Small and Medium-sized Enterprised Development that costs 84,150,000 VND.

Lastly, it is important to note that these tuition fees are paid per semester, meaning payments of these costs are made twice every academic year.
