King Saud University is a public university in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It is the first university in the country and was originally named Riyadh University in 1957. How Do I Apply for King Saud University Scholarships?

King Saud University offers low-cost and budget-friendly tuition fees for international students who want to study at their campuses. There is only an approximately $1,000 tuition fee per academic year in a Bachelor’s or Master’s coursework. The university welcomes over 3,000 international students in different countries every year.

There is only a limited number of slots available for non-Arab students to take in the King Saud University. Applicants must pass Arabic and English language proficiency tests required by the host institution or specially requested by the college they are applying for.

General requirements for undergraduate applicants must be they’re 18 but not over 25 years old. They must also obtain a high school qualification, submit a copy of their academic transcripts, proof of language tests, the statement of purpose. Requirements and eligibility criteria may vary in different programs.

Postgraduate applicants must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree to qualify for admission in a Master’s or Ph.D. research and/or coursework at the university.

King Saud University Scholarships for International Students

1. Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Scholarships

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia offers this scholarship grant for international students who will pursue their Bachelor’s, Master’s, and/or Ph.D. degrees at any state-recognized higher educational institution in the country. Candidates who come from Saudi Arabia’s partner countries and apply for undergraduate and/or postgraduate degree programs of any discipline, except in the field of health and medicine, will qualify for the award.

This fully funded scholarship available at King Saud University will cover their tuition fees, healthcare insurance, accommodation, airfare travel, living expenses, and other non-monetary support. They may also benefit from the mentorship of the university’s academic staff and alumni, recreational activities related to science, society, media, and culture, and other incentives.

Students may apply directly to their chosen university for the scholarship grant. The minimum eligibility criteria for the award include that students must not be less than 17 nor more than 35 years old when applying for an undergraduate program. Those applying for a Master’s program must not be above 30 years old and no more than 35 years old for a doctoral degree.

They must also provide certification from a professional for their academic transcripts upon their submission for admission application at the university. Candidates should not be recipients of other scholarship programs by other institutions in Saudi Arabia.

2. King Saud University International Scholarships

The King Saud University International Scholarships are available to all Saudi and foreign nationals who will pursue a Bachelor’s, Master’s, and/or Ph.D. degree. The value of the scholarship varies on the eligibility of the students. The award is for students who show excellent academic performance and maintain the minimum grade required throughout their studies.

Students who will study for a Bachelor’s degree in scientific studies may receive a scholarship worth SR 1000, while those who enroll in humanities and social studies may receive an SR 900.

Students applying for graduate degree programs will receive an amount of SR 900. Additionally, an SR 3,000 stipend will award students with a Master’s thesis and an SR 4,000 to students with a Ph.D. dissertation. Students may withdraw these amounts through their bank account or receive them from Deanship personnel of the university.

Candidates who are not holding a job in the government and are enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or postgraduate program at the university are eligible for the scholarship. Students must withdraw the amount from their bank accounts within three months after the university has deposited the money. They must also maintain a grade not lower than 2.0 on a 4.0 GPA scale. Students must comply with all additional requirements given by their respective colleges before they receive the award.

3. King Saud University’s Excellence Reward

King Saud University will give an additional award to international students who will prove their competitiveness and excellence in their field of study during their term at the university. Students may receive an amount of up to SR 1000 if they meet the eligibility criteria for the reward.

Undergraduate students will receive this scholarship at King Saud University if they maintain at least a 4.5 GPA or an equivalent of 90% average out of the 100% grading scale.

The university will also award postgraduate students who maintain an excellent GPA (or equivalent to a minimum of 4.50 GPA) in two consecutive semesters of the same academic year. Students will not receive any award if they fail to pass their degree. They will also not be included in the award if they have any pending or incomplete courses.
