The Macquarie University is a public research institution established by the New South Wales Government in Sydney, Australia. The university situates next to nature’s preserves and is abundant in vegetative land areas. Its name is in honor of the late Lachlan Macquarie, who was a respectable governor of the colony of New South Wales in the early 1800s.

Its establishment in 1964 gave access to high-quality education to thousands of student enrollees in the city of New South Wales. Its stunning and vibrant campus is home to Australia’s most exceptional facilities. It has a modern library that gives students to explore over a million print and electronic resources. It also houses a gigantic sports and aquatic center, a beautiful pavilion, and a building overlooking the spectacular view of Lake Mungo.

How do I apply to Macquarie University Scholarships?

Students who will study in Australia will have access to a lot of scholarship opportunities given by the host university or the Australian Government. Among these scholarships will support students who will undertake an undergraduate program and/or Master’s/Ph.D. degree or research coursework at the Macquarie University.

One of the pre-requisites when applying for available scholarships includes the offer of admission or acceptance of the applicants at the university.

Undergraduate applicants will depend on their grades in high school that will determine what programs they are eligible to apply for. Additionally, students must obtain the required minimum score of 6.5 in IELTS. However, some programs may require specific English Language Proficiency levels. Those who are yet to complete an Australian Year 12 qualification, the International Baccalaureate (IB), or the New Zealand NCEA Level 3 qualification may apply through the UAC.

Applicants for master’s coursework must have completed a Bachelor’s degree. Those who will apply for a Master’s research and or Ph.D. program must have experience and knowledge in the related fields of their chosen programs.

Macquarie University Scholarships for International Students

1. Macquarie University Regional Scholarship

The Macquarie University will award scholarships to international students from participating countries pursuing their higher education at the Macquarie University in Australia. The Regional Scholarship grantees will receive a $2,500 tuition fee reduction per semester or a maximum of $5,000 tuition fee waiver per year during their full-time Bachelor’s and/or Master’s program at the university. The award only applies to the tuition fees of students and cannot be used in other expenses.

Students must be coming from countries that are among the scholarship’s list of participating countries. They must meet the required minimum GPA and English Language Proficiency levels of their chosen Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program.

Applicants must gain their acceptance offer and enroll at the university to be eligible for the program. They must maintain the required minimum grades as they progress in their degree to continue receiving the award. Students must also not be under any sponsorships unless approved by the university.

There is no separate application for this Macquarie University scholarship program. Students who will apply for an undergraduate or Master’s coursework will automatically include for nomination by the university if they meet the eligibility criteria upon applying for admission.

2. Australia Awards Scholarships

  • Scholarship amount: full scholarship package including airfare travel; to and from Australia, living allowance, tuition fee waiver, health insurance, research support, and subsidy for other academic expenses
  • Degrees Offered: Undergraduate, Master’s, and/or Ph.D.

The Australian Government will award young emerging leaders from their partner countries who want to study in Australia. Their goal is to give opportunities for talented individuals to succeed in their field of study and make significant changes in the world. The Australian Government also expects to strengthen its relationship with its partner countries.

Students may receive a fully-funded scholarship available at Macquarie University to take their Bachelor’s, Master’s, and/or Ph.D. degrees at any state-recognized Australian university. They must be coming from one of the 20 participating countries to qualify for the scholarship. Applicants must hold an excellent academic record. They must also satisfy the qualifications for entry in Australia and provide proof of their English language proficiency levels. Students must comply with other additional requirements of their chosen degree program upon applying for admission at the university.

They may submit their application with other supporting documents such as original copies of their diplomas and academic transcripts, a certified copy of their valid passport and/or national identification card, curriculum vitae, referral reports, certificate of their English language proficiency tests, etc.

3. Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship

The Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship will give financial assistance to outstanding international students who will study at Macquarie University. Students must prove their academic competitiveness and perseverance to succeed in their chosen Bachelor’s or Master’s coursework in a degree program offered by the university. They must also satisfy the minimum score for the English language proficiency tests to gain entry at their chosen degree.

Students may receive up to $10,000 for a tuition fee reduction, which cannot be applied to other expenses while they’re studying. They must not be receiving any other scholarships offered by the university or other third-party organizations.

Applicants must meet all conditions to be eligible for this Macquarie University scholarship. They must enroll for a full-time study at a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program at the university. Grantees must maintain a required minimum grade to continue receiving the scholarship. They should not withdraw from their courses until they have completed their degree.
