By offering scholarships, Malaysia hopes to share its development knowledge with other nations. The program also aims to strengthen bilateral ties and encourage and promote technical cooperation with developing countries.

There are two (2) categories of Malaysian Government scholarships. Training, capacity-building, and high-quality education are provided in developing countries through Malaysian International Scholarships and Malaysian International Scholarship programs, which are offered in collaboration with leading local training institutions as well as well-known universities and international development partners.

For successful applicants, these scholarships provide amazing opportunities. It is an effort of the Malaysian government to bring the brightest minds from across the globe to Malaysia for postgraduate academic study.

Scholarship Amount for Malaysian Government Scholarships

A maximum of RM 1,500.00 per month will be provided as part of this Malaysian International Scholarship program to cover tuition and living expenses. Travel to Malaysia is the responsibility of the successful applicants (non-financial provisions). The Malaysian government will not cover travel expenditures. It is strongly recommended that all applicants research the estimated living expenditures in Malaysia before submitting an application.

The Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) offers its successful candidates the benefits of paying their living expenses as well as their books and tools, housing rental, and family support. It also provides them with placement and thesis aid as well as practical training and end of study reimbursements. Additionally, there are school costs, medical claims, and VISA are also included in this scholarship program. Through their personal savings account, the successful candidate will be able to obtain allowances and other advantages.

Eligibility Criteria for Malaysian Government Scholarships

Malaysian International Scholarship program only accepts applications from the following countries: Cambodia, Philippines, Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, Indonesia, Laos, Brunei Darussalam, Palestine, Kingdom of Morocco, Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Singapore. Applicants must be talented foreign students with outstanding academic records and excellent co-curricular experience.

On the other hand, the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme scholarship has a total of one hundred forty-four (144) countries recipients and twenty (20) eligible universities to teach the successful applicants. Applicants must also have the ability to commit to the scholarship program to finish their degree on time at their chosen university. The applicants must be able to submit the application form which can be found on their official website of the Malaysian Government Scholarships. The applicant’s passport must be valid for at least six months in order to establish his or her nationality. It is essential that all courses completed during the degree program be represented on the official transcript of records in order to establish that the candidate has achieved academic excellence at the university. To interpret the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA), an official document issued by the applicant’s former university must also be submitted.

The research project must be of high quality, and its potential contribution to the progress of technology and personal well-being must be clearly articulated and shown. An exceptional level of proficiency in Language is also required for the application. Any of the above-mentioned courses may be selected by the applicant.

A certified true copy of the International English Language Test System (IELTS) or Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) are needed to apply for Malaysian Government Scholarships. All courses are taught in the English language though so you have to be fluent in conversing through English. If you do not have one, you may still apply to this scholarship program. The applicant’s age should not exceed 45 years of age for this scholarship program.

How do I apply to Malaysian Government Scholarships?

As an aspiring scholar of the Malaysian Government Scholarships, you have to choose what type of scholarship you want to be granted. You must be able to justify it in your letter of intent in order to have good points. Either it is because of the relevancy of it on your graduated degree or your work experience. Relevancy of your previous degree or work experience is not mandatory but it is recommended for you because it would be your strong foundation while learning under these Malaysian Government scholarships.

On the application portal, you must upload the relevant papers in certified true and clear copy. For the Letter of Recommendation, the candidate should get two references, the scholarship program’s endorsement, an admissions offer letter from one of the Malaysian universities, and a detailed Curriculum Vitae.
