There are three different Poland Government scholarships available for international students. The Gen. Anders Program is for undergraduate and graduate students, Poland My Choice Scholarship is for Master’s students, and Banach Scholarship Program is for Master’s students. So, let’s take a look at these Poland Government scholarships.

Gen. Anders Programme (Poland Government Scholarships for Undergraduate and Master’s Students)

Through the supervision of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, foreigners of Polish origin are granted scholarships to study in Poland in their undergraduate or Master’s studies. This Poland Government scholarship aims to enhance their knowledge of the Polish language and to promote Poland as a country of scientific breaks and quality education.

Under this Poland Government Scholarship Program, an applicant can choose one of these 3 Polascholarships: Director of the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA), Minister of Culture and National Heritage and Sports, or scholarship by the Minister of Health.

Scholarship subsidy for the Gen. Anders Programme

This Poland Government scholarship covers monthly allowance during the education period and free tuition fees for the preparatory course. Free tuition at public universities, art universities, and universities supervised by the Ministry of Health will be provided by NAWA, Minister of Culture, National Heritage and Sports, and Minister of Health respectively.

The monthly allowance for the preparatory course amounts to PLN 1,450. For the first 3 years of education, the monthly allowance is PLN 1,250 and PLN 1,500 per month for students on their fourth, fifth, and sixth year in the university.

Eligible Applicants for the Gen. Anders Programme

Applicants can be classified into persons with or without Polish citizenship. For those who do not have Polish citizenship, the criteria would include possession of documents confirming Polish origin, have not obtained a first-degree diploma, have not received scholarships for foreigners with Polish origin. Applicants with Polish citizenship have different eligibility criteria.

For those planning to apply for first-cycle (university) studies, enrollment in the last year of their secondary studies is an additional criterion.

Master’s degree applicants are required to be currently studying or have a diploma for first-cycle studies. They must not also be a graduate of a master’s degree before admission.

Application for the Gen. Anders Programme

Deadline of Application

Poland My First Choice Scholarship Program (Poland Government Scholarships for Master’s Students)

A Master’s degree at Polish universities for young, talented, and purpose-driven individuals from foreign countries is the main purpose of this Poland Government Scholarship. The students are given a wide array of universities and courses to choose from while enjoying Poland’s temperate climate.

Amount of scholarship grant for Poland My First Choice Program

The scholarship rewards PLN 2,000 (515 USD) to successful applicants. It would pay a maximum of 12 months. However, if the application is accepted within the academic year, the grant would be lesser.

Who are eligible to apply for Poland My First Choice Program?

This Poland Government Scholarship is open to students from selected countries such as Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Chile, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Spain, the Netherlands, Ireland, Iceland, Israel, Japan, Canada, Republic Korea, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Latvia, Malta, Germany, Norway, New Zealand, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Uruguay, USA, Hungary, Italy, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Singapore, or Chinese citizens – Hong Kong residents, Macau, and Taiwan.

Polish citizens are not accepted in this program as well as those who have applied for Polish citizenship. They should also obtain their first-cycle studies diploma from their home country or in Poland before 2017. If not yet graduates, students must be studying at the last year of the first-cycle studies during the submission of the application. Second-cycle students in Poland would be disqualified.

Students should apply for admissions on units having category A and A+. The list of units with a parametric rating of A and A+ is found here. The applicant must also be at least B2 level in Polish or English.

Flow of Application for Poland My First Choice Program

The applicant must submit necessary documents for assessment to NAWA. After submission, applicants must also provide certificates of admission to studies. The applications are then subjected to formal and substantive assessment. If qualified, there would be a conclusion of an agreement between the applicant and NAWA before the start of the second cycle studies. The Banach Scholarship Programme (Poland Government Scholarship for Master’s Students)

Young people from developing countries are the primary targets of this scholarship. For this academic year, the Banach Scholarship Programme is merged with the Lukasiewicz Scholarship Programme under the initiative of the National Agency for Academic Exchange and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This Poland Government Scholarship aims to create a leap in the socio-economic status of developing countries by educating students in the field of life sciences, agricultural sciences, exact sciences, and engineering and technical sciences. This is mainly for second-degree studies or master’s degree.

How much shall the Banach Scholarship amount to?

Inclusive in this Poland Government Scholarship are monthly scholarships of the NAWA Director and free tuition fees at public universities. During the preparatory course, the applicant shall be granted PLN1,700 monthly. Once the second-cycle studies commence, students are given PLN 1,500 each month.

Banach scholarship eligibility criteria

This Poland Government Scholarship program only applies to international students from the following countries: Albania, Angola, Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Montenegro, Ethiopia, Philippines, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Iran, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Colombia, Kosovo, Lebanon, North Macedonia, Mexico, Moldova, Nigeria, Palestine, Peru, South Africa, Senegal, Serbia, Tanzania, Tunisia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.

Applicants are also expected to have know-how in the Polish language at the B1 level or an English level of B2. Diploma holders of second-cycle studies are no longer eligible as well as those who possess or have applied for Polish citizenship.

The Banach scholarship application process

The applicant shall register to the agency’s ICT system and accomplish the application form with the needed attachments before submitting it to the system which can be accessed at the NAWA website. Applications shall then be assessed before the conclusion of the call for proposals. Results of the application shall be sent through the email address that they provided. Banach scholarship deadline
