The minimum requirements for students who are applying for admission to an undergraduate program at UNSW include a Year 12 Qualification (either outside or in Australia), an International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma, and a National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) level 3.

Some courses will require students to submit additional documents such as personal statements, questionnaires, portfolio of work, audition, interview, or tests. These will take into account along with their admissions rank or ATAR.

Students applying for undergraduate programs may choose different pathways for UNSW admissions. These include high school qualifications, alternative entry certifications like UNSW Foundation Studies, and/or UNSW Diploma.

Students pursuing a postgraduate degree or research coursework must have completed an undergraduate degree at the university level and meet the criteria for admission, depending on their chosen program.
