Keio University offers plenty of options for prospective students to maximize their learning environment with six campuses strategically located in different areas around Tokyo, Japan. The university has been around for over 160 years and has been living out its founder Yukichi Fukuzawa’s legacy of practical learning.

Through the years, Keio University has earned impressive numbers both in world rankings and in accomplished graduates. It has also made a significant contribution in medicine, where eight of its graduates became Nobel laureates. Its graduates have notable positions in some of the biggest companies in Japan and the world.

The university continues to attract more international talents by the steadily increasing number of English courses and Degree programs. Students can apply for several Keio University scholarships that can help them with the relatively high living cost in Japan. Keio University allocates nine out of ten affordable dormitories for international students. It hosts over 400 clubs allowing students to pursue their interests besides the academe.

How do I apply to Keio University Scholarships?

Keio University requires international students to go through Scholarship Application Registration every semester. Failure to do so will disqualify applicants from getting a scholarship for the semester. You may access the documents and registration guidelines by visiting this link. The same link provides the updated contact information for different departments if the applicant needs to make corrections in their registration.

Be sure to input the correct information when submitting Google Doc forms to avoid delays in the application process.

Applicants may check the available scholarships and their corresponding application deadlines, requirements, and guidelines on this page.

International students may choose between two methods to apply for a scholarship from an external donor or organization. The first one is through direct application to the organization, while the other is through university application or university recommendation. The application processes are different. You may check more information here.

Most scholarships do not offer language course subsidies. However, they prefer applicants with Japanese language skills, especially in faculties where Japanese is the medium of instruction. Therefore, interested applicants must learn Japanese in advance to pass the entrance examination. After passing the entrance examination, the university can then help you acquire a government or private scholarship through recommendation.

Plan early and apply early. Since language may be an issue, it may help to check whether or not the program you want to apply to offers English classes. Please check this link to learn more.
