How do I apply to the University of Reading Scholarships?

To qualify for most scholarships at the University of Reading, international students must first secure an admission offer for the degree program they wish to enter.

Applicants from other countries may have difficulty getting direct admission to an undergraduate degree in the UK. The university offers some foundation and access courses to help interested applicants earn the necessary qualifications to study in the UK. Be sure to check the country-specific requirements.

University of Reading Scholarships for International Students

1. Vice-Chancellor Global Scholarship Award

International students with an unconditional offer or accepted admissions to an undergraduate program at the University of Reading may qualify for the Vice-Chancellor Global Scholarship.

Students don’t need to apply for this University of Reading scholarship. The scholarship committee will select the awardees from their database based on outstanding assessment and examination performance.

The scholarship is valid for one year and will serve as a tuition fee deduction. Recipients can enjoy the continuation of the award until graduation if they meet the academic requirements set by the university.

2. BSc Architecture Scholarship

  • Degrees Offered: BSc in Architecture

Incoming international students in the BSc Architecture program may qualify for a scholarship. The scholarship is valid for three years at £1,000 per year.

3. SPCLS International Academic Excellence Scholarship

  • Degrees Offered: Undergraduate, Master

Two successful applicants may receive £2,000 each as tuition fee deduction in their first year in the School of Psychology and Clinical Language Science at the University of Reading. Recipients of full-tuition scholarships are not eligible for this scholarship.

Eligible undergraduate degree courses are Psychology, Psychology with Professional Placement, Psychology and Language Science, Psychology with Neuroscience, Psychology with Foundation, and Psychology and Philosophy.

Students enrolled in the Masters in Science in Applied Psychology may also apply for this scholarship at the University of Reading.

4. General Scholarships

International students who have received an offer for admission for a Master’s Degree program at the University of Reading may qualify for a general scholarship. Eligible applicants may access the application form via the application portal.

Scholars can use the value of the scholarship as a tuition fee deduction.

5. Subject Scholarship

Various Schools at the University of Reading offer a scholarship worth £4,000 to a certain number of successful Master’s Degree applicants. These schools offer the scholarship in the form of a tuition fee deduction.

There are two rounds of applications. The first round selects from applicants who have submitted their applications by March 1. The second round considers applications submitted by June 15.

6. Department of Meteorology Ph.D. Scholarship

  • Degrees Offered: Ph.D. (Meteorology)

International students who have received an admission offer for a full-time program in Ph.D. in Atmosphere, Oceans and Climate or Ph.D. in Space Weather and Solar-Terrestrial Physics may apply for a scholarship worth £3,000 per year.

Part-time students based at the university or full-time Ph.D. by Distance students may receive £1,500 per year, while part-time Ph.D. by Distance students may receive £750.

Full-time students can receive this University of Reading scholarship for three years, while part-time students can receive it for four years.

7. Henley Business School Real Estate and Planning Scholarship

Outstanding applicants with a relevant Undergraduate Degree and a distinction level Master’s Degree may apply for a scholarship at Henley Business School.

The scholarship covers the cost of tuition fees and provides an allowance to the scholars. It is valid for one year. A three-year extension is available depending on the scholar’s academic performance.
