Upon choosing a course, check the course-related entry requirements to see if you qualify for the program. The entry requirements also depend on your country of origin. Additionally, you have to meet the university’s English language requirements including IELTS. If you don’t have IELTS, you can still apply through Deakin University English Language Institute (DUELI) which provides English language classes to enhance your language level. The supporting documents including certificates, transcripts, and identification documents should all be certified copies of documents. When your application has been accepted, you have to accept the Letter of Offer given to you to attain a Confirmation of Enrollment (COE).

Research degree applicants have to meet their chosen Faculty’s application process since each Faculty has its own application processes. Some Faculties or Institutes require an Expression of Interest (EOI) before applying through the main application, whereas some would need to follow the seven steps in applying. The application process involves seven steps: meet the entry requirements and eligibility, find a supervisor, obtain a referee report, prepare your research proposal, acquire appropriate English language skills, prepare documents, and submit your application online.
