Scholarships aid in reducing a student’s debt, as well as getting real-world experience that they can use on their resumes. Furthering your education will help to advance yourself in the world of business and commerce. Studying abroad presents unique opportunities for university students: not only do students learn new languages and cultures, but also expand their experience of different companies, work cultures, and problem-solving.

With its diverse culture and technological advancements, Taiwan should be top of mind when deciding on where to study.

Scholarships for Taiwanese institutions are awarded to students from all countries, with a monthly stipend paid to cover the costs of tuition, living costs, insurance, and other costs. Living costs in Taiwan for an international student actually equate to the same as those for students in the United States. A single person would pay around $428 for a one-bedroom apartment in the city, while an apartment outside of the city center costs $285.

The majority of Taiwan scholarships include a stipend for living costs and these greatly help to reduce the financial burden on students. The Taiwan public transport system also offers discounted travel rates for students: a monthly bus pass costs $46 for an unlimited number of trips per day across the city.

International students are allowed to work in Taiwan, and are able to use their income to cover costs such as tuition, living costs, and other costs. Working in Taiwan is also an excellent way to learn more about the Taiwanese culture and language.

Taiwan’s laws and regulations pertaining to students, limit working hours for students to just 20 hours per week during university semesters (while this limit is lifted during university holidays). It is important to note that students are to obtain a work permit.

If a student is found to be working without a permit, a hefty fine of $1000 to $1500 will be applicable. Should a student graduate and seek employment in Taiwan, they need to apply for a work visa.
