How do I apply to the Tokyo Institute of Technology Scholarships?

Tokyo Institute of Technology offers various programs for undergraduate, master’s, and postgraduate students.

Undergraduates are advised to follow the admission guidelines provided by their chosen school or department. The application process for students who are looking to take up a Bachelor’s Degree can be done in two ways. The first way usually begins with taking the university entrance examination provided by the National Center for University Entrance Examinations (NCUEE) and the Tokyo Tech entrance examination.

On the other hand, the second way starts with taking the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU) conducted by Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) and the Tokyo Tech’s Special Screening Examination for Foreign Undergraduate Students. In the two ways mentioned, all examinations are in Japanese, so future undergraduates need to have a good command of the language.

Meanwhile, postgraduates are also to follow specific steps when it comes to application. See Tokyo Tech’s Application Guidelines. Furthermore, postgraduate students can pick between the Regular Program wherein both Japanese and English are the medium of instruction used, and the International Graduate Program (IGP) which does not require students to be fluent in Japanese as all lectures are taught in English.

For all international students, it is best to view the Information for International Students page on Tokyo Tech’s website to learn more about the inner workings of being an overseas student at the institution.
